Karst

 

Karst uplands offer a very unique hydrogeology. With dolines, sinkstreams, limestone pavements, raised mires, underground cave systems and springs - all influencing permeability - pollutants can find their way into river-beds via multiple routes and avoid detection if this is not considered.
